Course Description:
Continuing from the series of Professional Practice courses in second year, this course presents advanced information on structures, materials and systems for the design and development of large scale or specialized buildings. The content of the lectures in this class follow two interwoven streams. A historical and theoretical stream presents the development of material systems and their techniques of manufacture and description, and the consequences of these systems on design both in terms of architectural expression and the role of the architect in/as a coordinated and integrated design team.
