Seminar on BlockChain and Applications in Real-time

On October 28th, the DTU International School and the BAP IT Company held a seminar entitled “BlockChain and Applications in Real-time”.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Man

Mr. Nguyen Duc Man, Dean of the DTU International School, explained that BlockChain is a new form of decentralized database. It’s a real-time ledger of any type of record but there is no individual or organization in charge of the entire chain, which is open for everyone in the chain to view each record, known as a block. Each time a block is completed, a new one is generated. The BlockChain was designed so that transactions are immutable, they cannot be deleted. The network is a chain of computers that must all approve an exchange before it can be verified and recorded. The numerous benefits of BlockChain promise to revolutionize business and finance. BlockChain has attracted the attention of IT specialists and the seminar allowed students to better understand the new technology and trends, and to meet with a company that could broaden their internship and career opportunities.

A BAP representative added that BlockChain was first developed by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008. A year later, BlockChain was used as a foundation for Bitcoin, a form of digital currency created and deposited electronically.  The payment system is a peer-to-peer network and transactions take place between users directly, without an intermediary.

Nguyen Dang Thanh of K20 CMUTTT enjoyed the seminar. He said: “BlockChain represents a really new direction in technology. As we found out from BAP today, BlockChain has numerous potential applications. With a specialized knowledge of BlockChain, students will be able to broaden their career prospects.”
