The 3rd Student Scientific Research Conference: Outstanding Projects and Research Quality Evaluation

The 3rd Student Scientific Research Conference: Outstanding Projects and Research Quality Evaluation
On April 26, 2025, the 3rd Student Scientific Research Conference of the International School, Duy Tan University, successfully concluded, showcasing a wide array of practically applicable research projects. This year’s projects stood out not only for their creativity but also for their extensive application of advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), and practical Data Analytics. Notably, many Information Technology (IT) projects demonstrated an excellent integration of theory and practice, paving the way for valuable community and market applications.

Dr. Nguyen Duc Man shared his insights on scientific research with the students

The First Prize was awarded to the team of Nguyễn Trường Lâm, Nguyễn Ngọc Sơn, Tống Phước Huy, and Huỳnh Nguyên Vũ for their project "Programming Teaching Support System." Their research focused on developing a system to assist in programming education, aiming to make fundamental programming concepts more accessible to students through practical exercises and a user-friendly interface.

Nguyễn Trường Lâm, representing the research team, shared: "We wanted to create a tool that allows students not only to learn theory but also to practice directly on the system with real-world examples and exercises. Learning programming isn’t just about understanding concepts, but also about applying knowledge to practical problems. Our system offers highly interactive and easily accessible exercises to support this process."

By integrating AI and Machine Learning technologies, this system not only provides students with an intuitive way to learn programming but also assesses individual progress through exercises and real-world scenarios. Dr. Nguyễn Đức Mận, Vice Dean of the International School, commented: "This project not only meets practical teaching needs but also opens a new direction for integrating technology into education, creating an effective and dynamic learning environment."

The product’s completion, interactivity, and applicability to modern teaching were key factors that earned the project high praise from the judging panel.

The second First Prize went to the team of Lê Thị Thanh Thùy, Trương Thị Minh Hương, Phạm Huyền Nhân, Văn Thị Cẩm Nhung, Đỗ Trần Anh Thư, and Lê Thị Thanh Thùy for their project "A Study on Factors Influencing Impulsive Buying Behavior via TikTok Livestream among Gen Z in Da Nang City." This research is highly topical, reflecting the changes in consumer habits of Generation Z through TikTok's livestreaming platform, where impulsive buying has become a strong trend.

Lê Thị Thanh Thùy, the team’s representative, shared: "We observed that shopping via livestream platforms has become a strong trend, especially among Gen Z. Our study not only analyzes the factors influencing shopping behavior but also offers insights for businesses to better adjust their marketing strategies."

MSc. Lưu Thị Thu Hương noted: "This project reflects a new consumption trend and highlights key factors that retailers and businesses need to consider when building marketing strategies on social media platforms. It holds great potential for helping companies optimize their business and marketing strategies."

Application of AI and Machine Learning Technologies: Delivering Practical, High-Value Solutions
One of the highlights of this year’s conference was the emergence of research projects applying AI, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning technologies to real-world systems. These technologies not only optimize processes but also deliver outstanding effectiveness in solving specific problems.
In addition to the two First Prize-winning projects, other highly practical research topics included:

  • "Application of Graph Neural Networks (GNN) and Knowledge Graph (KG) in Recommendation Systems":
This project, carried out by Hồ Thành Tiến, Nguyễn Bá Khoa, Trần Nguyễn Quốc Bảo, Trần Đình Quân, and Hồ Tấn Phong, impressed with its use of GNN and KG to build a smart recommendation system. The team utilized GNN to analyze relationships between entities within the Knowledge Graph, thereby providing more accurate and highly personalized suggestions for users.
  • "Skystudy" – An English Learning Application for Children: Developed by Chế Quang Khải, Phạm Tiến Hưng, Trần Duy Bách, and Lê Huỳnh Dũng, this project uses Machine Learning algorithms to identify objects displayed in English, generate sentences, pronounce words, and more, enabling children to learn effectively and enjoyably. In addition to aiding children's English acquisition, the app also allows parents to monitor their children's progress through detailed analytical reports. Another is "Approval Workflow Management System" that was developed by Hà Phương Huyền, Tăng Ngọc Tuân, Trần Thị Thu Hồng, Lê Bảo Minh, and Nguyễn Đình Khuê. This project addresses practical issues related to digital transformation in businesses. Research shows that the system can significantly reduce approval time and improve departmental work efficiency.

Hà Phương Huyền, a member of the research team, shared: "We aimed to create an approval management system that helps organizations minimize paperwork and increase transparency in workflow processes. The system can learn from historical data to optimize approval steps and make more accurate decisions."

Commenting on the quality of the products, Dr. Nguyễn Đức Mận affirmed: "This year’s research products have been very well-developed by the student teams. They not only focused on theoretical research but also emphasized practical application, resulting in real-world solutions ready to be implemented in work and daily life."

The 3rd Student Scientific Research Conference was an academic playground and a platform for students to showcase their creativity, scientific thinking, and ability to apply technology to real life. The research projects demonstrated tremendous potential for applying advanced technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Data Analytics across various fields, opening significant career development opportunities and contributing to overall societal progress.

With the success of this year’s conference, Dr. Nguyễn Đức Mận encouraged students to continue pursuing their passion for scientific research: "We will continue to create opportunities for students to participate in scientific research, not only domestically but also on international stages. This is a chance for students to keep innovating, growing, and contributing to the collective development of society."
